Calcium aluminate

Calcium aluminate is a series of inorganic compounds sintered from calcium oxide and aluminum oxide at high temperatures. It is used in cement and fire extinguishing materials due to its high hardness and high melting point. The general formula is mCaO·nAl2O3, abbreviated as CmAn (m, n does not have to be written when it is 1). Calcium aluminate products are divided into three categories: water treatment, steelmaking slag removal agent and high alumina cement.

The fused calcium aluminate (premelted aluminum-calcium slag) is mainly used for removing sulphur, oxygen and other impurities in the molten steel in the LF furnace, open hearth furnace and converter ladle refining, and reducing the content of harmful elements and impurities in the steel. Suitable for ordinary carbon steel, high carbon steel, high and low alloy steel. It has matured in foreign countries, such as Korea, Japan, Europe and the United States. The fused calcium aluminate has uniform chemical composition, low melting point and fast melting speed, which can shorten the smelting time; no fluorine, no erosion of the lining and ladle; compact structure, no water absorption, convenient storage and transportation; due to stable phase, fast slag formation, It can reduce the dust pollution of steel mills and comprehensively stabilize the refining process; it does not contain impurities such as hydrogen, nitrogen and carbon, which is conducive to improving the quality of steel.
